  • Co-authored  book with Dr. Alma Garcia (Sociology), “Ethnic Community Builders: Mexican    Americans in Search of Justice and Power” (Altamira Press, 2007), and our    on-going oral history project "Oral history Project of Mexican American Community Builders in San Jose, California, 1960-2000"    received the 2008 Elizabeth B. Mason Award from the National Oral History    Association. The award was presented on October 18, 2008 at the annual    Oral History Association Conference in Pittsburgh. 
  • Autobiographical    book, “The Circuit: Stories from the Life of A Migrant Child”, which was    translated into Italian by Dr. Victor B Vari, received the Premio    Internazionale Bonifacio VIII from the Catholic Community, Anagni-Alatri    (Rome), Italy.  
  • “La    Mariposa”, which has been adapted for stage by the Book-It Repertory    Theatre in Seattle, Washington, and has been touring    schools, libraries, and community centers throughout the state this fall (September-December).

Dr. Juan Velasco

  • As a Post-Doc Fellow of    UCLA'S Chicano   Studies Research   Center in 1999-2000,    Dr. Velasco completed research on his book: American Me: A Study on    Contemporary Chicano/a Autobiography.
  • His first novel, Enamorado,    was published in Spain    in 2000.
  • Most recently he wrote the    foreword for Under the Fifth Sun: Latino Literature from California    (2002)
  • He published his book Las    fronteras moviles: tradicion y modernidad en la Literatura Chicana contemporanea    (2003).
