The BUG Farm

The BUG Farm is a one-acre parcel leased from Catalan Farm in Hollister. The BUG Farm is being used for SCU sustainable agriculture education, experiential learning for social justice, and to grow large quantities of food for BUG programs serving urban food deserts including the Alma, Washington, and Gardner neighborhoods in San Jose. The BUG Farm holds weekly farmers' markets at Alma Community Center and Santa Clara University EducationUniversity classes from SCU (including ENVS 132 Agroecology and ENVS 146 Agriculture, Environment and Development) and UC Berkeley have toured and volunteered on the BUG farm as has the veggielution teen leaderhip program. The BUG Farm is also used as a training facility for HealthCorps AmeriCorps members and SCU student interns and volunteers.
