Glenn Appleby

Associate Dean


Glenn Appleby will serve as acting associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2008-2009 academic year. He is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science who first came to Santa Clara in 1993. He earned his A.B. from the University of Chicago, studying the history and philosophy of science, and then obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in mathematics from UCLA. His research areas are in algebra and algebraic combinatorics along with interests in physics, and environmental modeling. He has served as an associate editor of Mathematics Magazine, graded the Putnam Exam, and has had his research published in journals such as Linear Algebra and Its Applications and Expositiones Mathematicae.
