On Thursday, June 6 the Department of Art and Art History hosted their annual BBQ and Awards Ceremony in the sculpture yard at the Fine Arts building. All majors and minors were invited to join this social gathering with faculty and staff in the department. It was a warm, but beautiful day and we had lots of help. Don Fritz, Pancho Jimenez, Kathleen Maxwell, Fred Shepard, Tobias Wofford, student workers Marvin Garcia and Julio Luna, and Mitch's son Chris Wilson all helped with the setup of tables, tents, and chairs. Kate Morris and Ryan Reynolds were the grill masters who served tri-tip steak and sausages. Karen Fraser and Julie Hughes were our friendly bartenders. Julie was also in charge of distributing voting tickets and tallying up the Viewer's Choice selection. Blake de Maria and Kelly Detweiler mc'd the ceremony and distribution of awards. Renee Billingslea was our photographer on site and took lots of pictures during the event. A lot of work went into the planning and coordinating of the event thanks to Mitch Grieb, Blake de Maria and Kate Morris. Overall it was a successful and fun event. What a great turn out! Lot's of food, laughter and great conversations. Thanks to all of our majors and minors for coming, but mostly many thanks to everyone, including Ryan Carrington, Marco Marquez, Takeshi Moro and the rest of the faculty, staff and student workers for helping with the clean up. Until next year, congratulations to all of our scholarship and award recipients!
