Purpose: Coordinate and advance education programs at Ulistac Natural Area.
510 hours per week, flexible schedule (within M-F 8-5 time frame)
Pay Rate: $13/hr. Work study welcomed.

This position will be supervised by the Director of Campus and Community Programs in the Environmental Studies Institute. The Ulistac Outreach Coordinator Intern will also work closely with the Sustainability Coordinator and the Ulistac Natural Area Restoration and Education Project advisory committee.
All majors are welcomed. Students interested in exploring careers in education and/or environmental fields are especially encouraged to apply. In addition to pay, the Intern may get academic credit. |
| Qualifications |
A. Familiarity with concepts and practice of environmental education
B. Experience working with groups of children
C. Experience in communicating with others from a wide variety of backgrounds: good interpersonal and written communication skills are essential.
D. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, and be detail-oriented.
E. Intern is responsible for transportation to and from Ulistac (~4 miles from SCU). |
| Duties and responsibilities |
A. Provide educational field trips to K-8 grade classes
a. Use existing curriculum to encourage students to explore and engage with the environment at Ulistac Natural Area
B. Coordinate volunteers for restoration work days
a. Maintain the volunteer database
b. Distribute bi-monthly e-mail updates about the program
c. Attend at least one regular restoration workday each month (Sat. or Sun.)
d. Coordinate annual volunteer appreciation events (Spring & Fall)
C. Administrative duties for the Outreach Center as needed
a. Reply to e-mails and voicemails
b. Coordinate and schedule educational events at Ulistac
c. Maintain and update the Ulistac website |
