Apply for the tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor position in Management Information Systems

Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business invites applications for a tenure track position at the assistant or associate professor level in Management Information Systems within the Department of Operations Management and Information Systems beginning in Fall 2014. We seek candidates with an established research record in database technology, business intelligence, ERP, or related areas. The new faculty member can expect to teach required and elective courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs (MSIS & MBA). Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems or related field with an excellent research and teaching record. SCU is a private Jesuit university located in the heart of Silicon Valley.

The Leavey School has a collegial environment and resources to support scholarly research by approximately 75 full-time faculty. The school moved into a new state-of-the-art classroom and office building in the Fall of 2008. We have strong linkages with the high-tech community in the Bay Area. Our graduate programs (MSIS, MBA, EMBA, MS Finance, and MS Entrepreneurship) are geared to working professionals who attend classes on evenings and/or weekends, while working nearby during the week for dynamic firms ranging from Fortune-500 size (such as Apple, Cisco, eBay, Google, Hewlett-Packard, and Intel) to early-stage startup.

The OMIS Department teaches core and elective courses in our undergraduate business program, evening and weekend MBA programs, and Executive MBA program. Our faculty publish in outlets such as MISQ, ISR, Management Science, OR, MSOM, POM, ACM and IEEE Transactions, and currently hold or have held senior editorial positions at these leading journals. The MSIS program currently has over 150 students and benefits from a strong alliance with Silicon Valley companies. Executives from nearby firms serve as adjunct faculty. The program offers capstone projects where students, mentored by faculty, work with Silicon Valley firms to solve real information system problems.

Our faculty enjoy many opportunities for interdisciplinary work. The Information Systems side of the OMIS department conducts research in business intelligence, web analytics, security and other areas of great relevance in the information economy. The research interests of the operations management side include supply chain management, sourcing strategy, retail operations, operations-marketing interface, etc.

The Leavey School is home to the Retail Management Institute (RMI), which engages in research and teaching on the use of consumer information and information technology in multi-channel retailing, as well as the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). Santa Clara University also includes the Center for Science, Technology & Society (CSTS) and the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, both of which are widely recognized.
