Niles Walker

Professor of Practice in OMIS
faculty-omis-walker-niles-145-shd Dr. Niles Walker has more than 30 years of leadership experience as a successful industry executive and manager for the design, development and manufacturing of telecommunications equipment and products for various customers.  He has been a part-time faculty member for the past ten years in the Leavey School of Business, Operations Management and Information Systems Department teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses in Operations Management.  Utilizing his background as a vice president and operations manager with profit-and-loss responsibility, he effectively incorporates actual business management examples into his subject area providing the student with not only textbook theory but also relevant real-life business situations.  Dr. Walker continues to provide consulting services to industry leaders focusing on the development and implementation of operational processes for delivering telecommunications products and systems. As a Santa Clara University Professor of Practice, he introduces new process concepts and techniques from his on-going corporate work into course material.

Dr. Walker received his Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University.  He also holds an MBA from Santa Clara University.  Dr. Walker served in vice president positions at ITT Industries and Stanford Telecommunications; was a director at SRI International (formally Stanford Research Institute) and held senior leadership positions at Booz Allen Hamilton and Lockheed Martin.
