Winter 2014
2 units

In this practicum students will work in teams with students from the Center for Employment Training (CET) Construction program to plan and carry out façade and interior improvements that will enhance the marketability of small businesses in San Jose. Each team of students will receive a grant from Wells Fargo Bank to cover costs of the improvements and will work with the business owner to determine physical improvements to the space, as well as providing other assistance/consulting (i.e., market analysis, POS system) that may help to attract more customers and help the business to be more successful. Businesses will be selected through an application process for the Wells Fargo Small Business Renovation Grant Program. A panel of community leaders will judge the results to determine a winner. This class is offered as part of LSB’s Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative.

The class will meet as a group on the following dates:
Fridays 1-3pm: January 10, 24; February 7, 21, 28; March 7, 14
