Terri L. Griffith: Wall Street Journal: Tapping Into Social- Media Smarts
Friday, Apr. 29, 2011
Companies should take advantage of their employees’ ability to collaborate with the use of social networking tools, says Terri L. Griffith, professor of Management, in the Wall Street Journal. Her article, “Tapping Into Social- Media Smarts,” discusses the potential benefit that social networking offers companies that want to improve collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst their employees.
The article asserts that half a billion people utilize sites such as Facebook and Twitter to share information and form communities in their private lives. Griffith identifies options for companies looking to capitalize on employees’ social networking skills. She advises companies to have employees identify areas in which collaboration would be beneficial, set guidelines for internal and external social networking, and be open to change.
