 Kirthi Kalyanam : Smartphone Apps Speed Buying Decisions : KGO-7

Marketing Professor Kirithi Kalyanam was interviewed by KGO-7 on "Black Friday," discussing how smartphones will change consumer behavior this holiday season.

New mobile applications, such as the kind that compare prices by scanning an item's bar code, will lead to a new kind of impulse buying, he predicted. In-store decisions can be made with this information at hand.

In addition, with about 25% of shoppers equipped with a smartphone, consumers will no longer need to fully research prices before leaving for the mall, he said.
