Business Students to Attend Honor Society Leadership Conference

Monday, Jan. 27, 2014

Trevor Belanger (Accounting ’14) and Sebastian Feye (Finance ’14) were recently selected to attend the Beta Gamma Sigma Leadership Forum in San Antonio, Texas this February. Belanger and Feye were chosen based on academic achievement in the Leavey School of Business (LSB), and their essays describing how their conference attendance would benefit the Santa Clara University student community.

“Being chosen to attend the Beta Gamma Sigma Leadership Forum is an incredibly humbling honor,” said Belanger. “I attended many previous leadership conferences for accounting firms during the summer after my sophomore year, and after gaining vast amounts of knowledge and networking opportunities from these, I am eager to have the opportunity to spread my network even further and to act as a representative for the Leavey School of Business at this event."

Santa Clara has sent at least one student since the Forum began in 2001. At the Forum, Beta Gamma Sigma members from across the country gather for leadership training and development. Students participate in team-building exercises, examine questions such as “What kind of leader will I be?” in small breakout groups, and attend social and networking events.

Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma is the business education honor society (often equated to Phi Beta Kappa for the humanities), and the SCU chapter was recently named ‘exemplary’ by the international organization for the 94% of undergraduates accepting their invitation to join.
