Ron Danielson has been a faculty member at Santa Clara University for 27 years. He has held the position of Chief Information Officer since July 2000. As CIO, Ron leads the Information Services organization in offering academic and administrative computing, networking and telecommunications, web, instructional and classroom technologies, and library services.

Recent accomplishments include an upgrade to release 8 of the PeopleSoft administrative suite and implementation of the Angel course management system. Construction of an automated retrieval system to dramatically increase library capacity began in October 2003. This is Ron's second administrative appointment at Santa Clara. During the period from 1984 - 1992, he served as Director of Information Systems and helped lead efforts that completely revised the academic and administrative computing environments.

Ron holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is an Associate Professor in the Computer Engineering Department. He has been the principal investigator on a dozen externally funded grants, and has consulted for Silicon Valley industries, state and federal government organizations, and other universities. His current research interests lie in the areas of the impact of information technologies on organizations, human-computer interaction, and Web-based educational tools.
