MSIS Board of Advisors: Luke C. Dion

Director R&D,
VMware, Inc.

Mr. Dion is the director of R&D at VMware, the leader in virtual machine technology. Mr. Dion has over 25 years of software development experience, starting as a software developer and architect, and later moving into software development management. He has over 15 years of executive and senior management experience in both startups (such as Microtec Research and LynuxWorks) and large public corporations (such as VMware, Legato, Motorola, and Itron). During his tenure at Motorola, Mr. Dion was responsible for implementing a Six Sigma quality management system for software development, and used this knowledge and experience to achieve ISO 9000 registration for two different software development organizations.

Mr. Dion is a member of Santa Clara University’s MSIS program where he teaches MSIS 606, Software Project Management. Mr. Dion holds bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, later performing advanced studies in Computer Science at Stanford University.
