Requirements Checklist

Please note:

  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or equivalent four-year baccalaureate degree approved by home country's Ministry of Education
  • Tuition (2013-14) is $1,015/unit; the MS in Entrepreneurship degree requires completion of 51 units.

The applicant must complete and submit the following items by the published deadline dates.Your application will not be reviewed until all material is received.

  • Online application form and essay question responses. Visit secure online form here »
  • Two completed confidential Letters of Recommendation from faculty, managers, or supervisors who are familiar with your work. Downloadable forms provided in the online application.
  • Two official transcripts from each college / university-level institution attended, including extension programs.
  • Resume
  • Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)/ International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test score if your first language is not English. (Link to off-site TOEFL page here »)
  • application fee ($100 for domestic applicants; $150 for international applicants)

After Submitting the Online Application

Admissions Interview

Once you've submitted a completed application, you will be contacted by our Admissions Team about scheduling your final on-campus interview. Applicants from outside the immediate area will be given the option of a phone / Skype interview.

International Applicants

In addition to submitting general application materials, international students should be aware of the requirements below.

TOEFL

Applicants whose first language is not English (regardless of whether your schooling was in English) must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and have ETS send the scores directly to Santa Clara University, Institution Code 4851, Department 02. 

A minimum TOEFL score of 100 on the IBT test. The TOEFL may be waived if the applicant receives a score in the 50th percentile or higher on the verbal portion of the GMAT/GRE or have obtained a U.S. degree from an accredited institution.

Visas

Foreign-born applicants requesting student visas (F-1) must submit a financial statement showing adequate funds for tuition, fees, and living expenses for the first year of the program. F-1 applicants must be enrolled in at least nine (9) units per quarter. See the University's website for international students for more information regarding student visas.

If you are accepted to the Leavey School of Business, you need to complete the I-20 Request Form in addition to the Financial Resource Statement and include official documents verifying funds to cover tuition and expenses for the first year of the MSE program. These documents cannot be more than 90 days old. If you are being sponsored by another person, you need to submit a letter or Affidavit of Support from that individual or institution stating that he or she will sponsor you, as well as financial documents in the sponsor's name to show funding for the first year of the program. Financial Aid for Foreign Students

The University Financial Aid Office can help you locate and apply for private loans. You may visit the Schott Admission and Enrollment Services Building near the entrance of campus for additional information. Call the staff at 408-551-1000, or e-mail onestop@scu.edu.

International students are eligible to apply for scholarships.

Admissions Decisions

Applicants are admitted on the basis of academic ability as indicated by college records, demonstrated technical management potential (including work experience and recommendations), and motivation to complete a demanding academic program.

MSE applications are reviewed after the February 1 deadline. An Admissions interview will be conducted before a final offer of acceptance is made. Admissions decisions are made within 2-3 weeks after the final admissions interview.

A $300 non-refundable tuition deposit is required to secure a position in the MSE program within six weeks of acceptance.
