Business leaders told us they need men and women who not only have the tools for rigorous analysis, but who can develop and lead teams around the world. We met this charge with a newly enhanced Executive MBA curriculum, taught by SCU professors, whose remarkable academic achievements are accompanied by extensive industry experience in the fast-paced environment of Silicon Valley and beyond.
The program begins and ends with intensive off-site residential weekends that are devoted to examining leadership. Bridging these weekends are four academic terms lasting about three months each. Each term has a major team project and additional individual and casework assignments.
Early in the program, students travel to countries with significant global economies, such as China. In 2012, the class traveled to China for study of varying business models and meetings with leaders of such firms as Lenovo, Citibank, Huawei, Agilent, Flextronics, Satyam, Accenture, and Technomic Asia.
Another highlight of the program is the Cutting Edge Immersion (CEI). EMBA students visit Silicon Valley companies which are acknowledged leaders in business practice. Students work directly with key decision-makers, review results, and debrief with corporate executives, learning these management techniques first-hand and before they are captured in a case study or textbook.
