Deirdre Frontczak

Lecturer

Deirdre Frontczak is a Lecturer in Management and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University.  After teaching practical rhetoric for several years in the College of Arts and Sciences Deirdre joined the Leavey School of Business full time in 2012, teaching classes in Writing and Communications, Leadership and Sustainability, and Business Ethics.  Her primary research interests are the ethics of labor and environmental justice, academic freedom, the intersection of public policy and corporate practice, and leadership for initiating and implementing organizational change in service of the common good.  

 

Deirdre holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Music from New York University (Phi Beta Kappa), and M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Boston College (cultural hermeneutics).  She subsequently earned a M.A in Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University with a focus on social ethics and has pursued post-doctoral studies in adult and professional education. She has taught philosophy / ethics at Boston College, Georgetown University, University of San Francisco, Sonoma State University, and Santa Rosa Junior College. For 12 years she was active on the Board of the Faculty Assn. of California Community Colleges, a public advocacy group, serving as the Executive Officer for Part Time Faculty statewide. Currently she is an active member of the Society for Business Ethics, the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, and the American Philosophical Association, and serves on the Board of the PBK Association of Northern California as chair of the annual Asilomar Conference. 

 

Prior to joining Santa Clara University, Deirdre spent 25 years as a consultant in leadership and strategic communication, working with corporations, non-profits and the public sector in areas including executive development, strategic and policy support, community outreach, media relations, advocacy, shareholder relations, and public affairs.
