Assistant Professor of Management
Robert Eberhart joined the Leavey School of Business in the Fall of 2013 as an Assistant Professor of Management.
Professor Eberhart’s research interests are institutional theory, international business, entrepreneurship, Japanese institutions, corporate governance in new firms, and applications in government policy. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications, many working papers, and has received awards for his work from the Academy of Management and the Fondation du France et Japon.
Professor Eberhart came to Santa Clara from Stanford University, where he spent the last five years as a research scholar directing research on Japanese entrepreneurship. He also has an appointment as a visiting Professor at Kobe University, and is a Research Associate at Columbia University’s Center for Japanese Economy and Business. He has served as a guest lecturer at Stanford, University of Tokyo, New York University, and has taught courses at University of Michigan. He serves as Chairperson for the Policy Subcommittee of the U.S. Japan Joint Commission on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and is an academic advisor for the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the Board of Director’s Training Institute in Japan. In addition, he served as the founder and CEO of the successful Japanese startup, WineInStyle.
Professor Eberhart earned his B.A. in Financial Administration from Michigan State University; his M.A. in Microeconomics and Japanese Economics from University of Michigan; and his Ph.D. in Organizational Theory and Entrepreneurship from the Department of Management Science and Engineering at Stanford.
