1. What is the Global Women’s Leadership Network?
Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) is a non-profit leadership development and community resource for women leaders around the world. Part of the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business since 2004, our mission is to create a new future for humanity by inspiring women leaders and giving them the skills and knowledge to deliver to us all a world built upon social justice and economic sustainability.
2. Why focus on women?
GWLN has long believed that empowering women is the RIGHT thing to do. It is also the best means of ending poverty, violence and terrorism, environmental degradation and creating a more just, free world. For example, according to Girl Effect, 90% of income earned by women and girls is reinvested into their families, as opposed to only 30-40% for a man. The greatest challenges that face our world today cannot be addressed without recognizing the vital role of women. As GWLN Founding Director Linda Alepin states, GWLN strives to empower women to “step into positions of leadership and exert their talents” in order to “create a new future for humanity.”
3. What makes our program unique?
GWLN provides a residential transformational leadership program, online coaching, and membership in a global cooperative. We provide women access to tools and training that expands their capacity for impactful global citizenship. In turn, these women are partnering with GWLN in building an international network of women leaders who dare to transform the future of their organizations, communities, and the world.
4. How can I help? Where does my donation go?
You can contribute to GWLN’s mission by supporting our innovative leadership program, Women Leaders for the World, which begins with a six-day residential program and continues for six months with an ongoing coaching and mentoring program on SKYPE helping the women with the breakthrough projects they define during their residential program. This world-class training program sparks innovation, fosters leadership and business acumen, advances global citizenship and creates a worldwide network of women leaders. Future participants in the WLW program will join the Network of Graduates in building a highly collaborative, vibrant community of support for their endeavors.
Tax-deductible donations, administered through Santa Clara University, are used to sponsor scholarships for participation in this groundbreaking leadership program or contribute to the expansion of GWLN.
