Global Leaders for Justicetm
Summer 2010

Saturday, July 31 – Saturday, August 7, 2010
Santa Clara, California, USA

In partnership with the Leavey School of Business and the Santa Clara Law School, the Global Women's Leadership Network is pleased to announce the Global Leaders for Justice Program.

Global Leaders for Justice (GLJ) is a residential leadership development program that sparks innovation, fosters global citizenship, and expands the capacity and network of social justice leaders.  GLJ promises to provide visionary leaders with training and support to implement a defined project they bring to the program.

This year marks an exciting new direction for the Global Women’s Leadership Network:  2010 Global Leaders for Justice is the latest leadership program offered through the formation of a partnership between the Leavey School of Business and the Santa Clara Law School.

Global Leaders for Justice (GLJ) combines the power of an intensive residential week of education with three months of coaching to:

    * Build leadership capacity for sustainable social change
    * Shape social systems to transform the whole world
    * Be advocates in policy and action

The twenty leaders participating in the 2010 GLJ program are at the forefront of today’s social movements and are tackling the vital issues of economic security through environmental sustainability, health care, food security, gender equity, education, and human rights.  This year’s cohort brings together leaders from Armenia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Columbia, Costa Rica, Ghana, India, Italy, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Tanzania, and the United States.

Based upon Santa Clara University’s principles of competence, conscience and compassion, GLJ participants will transform the way in which they view the world and relate to issues by experiencing the value and power of collaborating with others toward a socially just world.  The program promises to equip participants with the support and development needed to implement a visionary project they bring to the program, further develop during the program, and put into action after the program.   They will build the capacity to work on a social movement that is sustained throughout their lifetime and is carried forward to the next generation.

We welcome the public to meet and join with these global leaders in dialogue on

Global Leaders for Justice (GLJ) is a residential leadership development program that sparks innovation, fosters global citizenship, and expands the capacity and network of social justice leaders.  GLJ promises to provide visionary leaders with training and support to implement a defined project they bring to the program.

Modeled after the Women Leaders For the World Program, GLJ will bring together social justice leaders including business, government, non-profit organizations, and academia.  The Global Leaders for Justice Program will be composed of leaders who have demonstrated their commitment to social justice; for example, leaders in human rights, the environment, health care, or other areas of public interest. Participants are carefully selected for their potential to impact their communities from a pool of international nominees.

We have selected leaders in social justice from around the world who are experienced and have the potential to impact their communities, organizations, and society.  They will add to their abilities to lead collaboratively and achieve exceptional results.  Following the program, they are coached via Internet video to fulfill a project that impacts their community.

You can see the participants for 2010 HERE.

We are raising funds to provide scholarships for tuition, room, and board.  You can donate directly to GWLN at http://alumnidirectory.scu.edu/netcommunity/gwln
