Emerging Markets in South America : A Case Study in Brazil

This course will focus on the emerging economy of Brazil, with a strong focus on the technology sector. Students will be exposed to a vareity of companies associated with innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition, the issue of leadership in an emerging economy will be analyzed drawing parallels to the Silicon Valley environment in both challenges and opportunities.
The course is designed to understand how to develop a "Business in the Brazilian marketplace" with a focus on both high technology and local Brazilian companies. Particular emphasis will be placed on the entrrepreneurship, leadership, and marketing aspects of doing business in Brazil, as well as using Brazil as an international business platform for both Latin America and world markets.

Pre-travel class dates: August 7, 14, and 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM
Post-travel class date: September 16, 2009
Prerequisites : MKTG 551, MGMT 501, and two quarters in residence in the program
