The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship welcomed Ron Conway as our guest speaker for the CIE Speaker Series featuring Ron Conway on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.  Special thanks to fellow Bronco Kevin Carter of SV Angel, for working with the CIE to bring Ron to campus.

About Our Speaker:

Ron Conway, Founder of SV Angel LLC, has been an active angel investor for over 15 years. He was the Founder and Managing Partner of the Angel Investors LP funds (1998-2005) whose investments included: Google, Ask Jeeves, Paypal, Good Technology, Opsware, and Brightmail. He was recently included in The Vanity Fair 100 most influential people in the Information Age. He was awarded Best Angel at The 2009 TechCrunch Crunchies Awards. He was named #6 in Forbes Magazine Midas list of top "deal-makers" in 2009 and is actively involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors. Ron was with National Semiconductor Corporation in marketing positions (1973-1979), Altos Computer Systems as a co-founder, President and CEO (1979-1990) and took Altos public on Nasdaq in 1982 and served as CEO of Personal Training Systems (PTS) (1991-1995). PTS was acquired by SmartForce/SkillSoft (Nasdaq SKIL).

Philanthropically, Ron is a member of the UCSF Medical Center Chancellor's Advisory Board in San Francisco, Board Member of The Tiger Woods Foundation, and SF Homeless Connect, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, College Track, and the Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation.


More about the CIE Speaker Series:

On a quarterly basis, the CIE hosts the CIE Speaker Series- informative, entertaining events that feature a dynamic, leading entrepreneur or leader in innovation sharing experiences and advice with the SCU community, generating awareness of the role played by and importance of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Target Audience
The audience for the CIE Speaker Series includes SCU students and faculty as well as invited guests from the Silicon Valley business community and the CIE Advisory Board.

The CIE Speaker Series provides attendees a unique opportunity to hear a first-hand account of stories in start-ups and breakthroughs in innovation and technology including challenges and lessons learned.  Presenters typically provide a 45 minute presentation followed by an informative 15 minute Question & Answer session.
