Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Fall '10 Newsletter

On behalf of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, we would like to welcome students back to campus for the 2010/11 academic year!   We hope that you had a wonderful summer break!

While most of the students were away, the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was busy this summer preparing for the upcoming year, and we are very excited about what is on tap:

  • On the curriculum front, we:
    • Have completed the review of the MBA concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Managing Technology & Innovation.  Several new classes were added to the concentrations.
    • Have developed the structure for an undergraduate Minor in Entrepreneurship and are in the process of drafting a proposal for University review and approval.
    • Are exploring a Master's degree for Entrepreneurship for non-business majors.
  • We are very excited about the co-curricular programs being developed by the SCEO and EC.  Both student groups have developed fabulous programs that include wonderful speakers and panels, exciting competitions, and rich forums for exchange and networking.
  • We have continued to expand our contacts and networks in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs, venture capitalists,  angel and super angel investors, business incubators, industry associations and groups, government agencies, entrepreneurial support groups including lawyers, accountants, human resource specialists, business and technical consultants.
  • We are building strong relationships and partnerships with our colleagues here at Santa Clara University in the School of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences and the Law School.  We have several joint events in development.
  • We also expanded the number of student internships available in entrepreneurial environments.

We would also like to welcome the newest member of the Entrepreneurial Faculty, Dr. Jaume Villaneuva.  We are thrilled to have Dr. Villaneuva as part of the Leavey School of Business team!

We have a wonderful year planned for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and look forward to seeing you soon at some of our many activities and events.  Feel free to stop by and say hello!
