2011 GEW Schedule
Monday, November 14~Student Entrepreneur Panel
Noon-1 pm, Forbes Family Conference Center, Lucas Hall 126
Student entrepreneurs can be found all across the SCU campus. The CIE is pleased to bring a panel of your fellow Bronco entrepreneurs to share their stories and field your questions in this panel discussion moderated by CIE Executive Director Dan Aguiar. Want to know how they handle going to college full time AND work on their ventures? This is your chance. Bring your questions and your lunch, the CIE will provide something sweet for dessert PLUS a chance to win a prize in our random drawing (must be present to win, but for an extra entry form, RSVP on the campus calendar!).
Panelists include Erik Fialho, Abram Dawson, Hari Rajagopalan and Anthony Prieto
About their ventures:
Erik Fialho, Left Lane Sports: LeftLane Sports started in 2009 as the first Flash Sale website for sporting goods. The site launches limited-time sales on top Outdoor, Fitness, and Action Sports brands at up to 70% off retail prices. The site initially grew through word-of-mouth and quickly took off. In October 2010, we began a marketing push and since then, the site has been growing an average of 30% month/month. We recently received our first round of Angel Investment, giving us a multi-million dollar valuation. The opportunity to expand further with the new capital is extremely exciting, but being a Senior double major at SCU makes the challenge of running my own company that much more intense. I’m hopeful, though, that the difficulties will make the experience that much more rewarding.
Abram Dawson, Cahoot: Cahoot is a mobile app that enables groups of friends to selectively and privately share the process of deciding where to go and what to do in an information-rich mapping environment. By drawing from your phone's contact book, we're creating a simple and direct way to solve the problem of coordinating activities within and across groups of friends.
Anthony Prieto, Bronco Student Services: Bronco Student Services is an organization entirely owned and operated by Santa Clara University alumni and students dedicated to providing needed services such as laundry, storage and food delivery to Broncos living both on and off campus. Our team has over 10 years of experience helping students to this extent and looks forward to making your experience as a Bronco that much more awesome.
Hari Rajagopalan, ThirdBird: ThirdBird is a student network designed to empower student ecosystems through a blend of social networking and social commerce applications. Students connect to their university network online and have access to communicating and sharing with their entire university in a completely unique way. Based on interests, major, and location, students also have access to a variety of jobs, tasks, and deals that specifically apply to them. The applications designed for ThirdBird can also be attached to pre-existing communities as well. ThirdBird is planning on launching in the upcoming weeks at SCU and other California Universities.
All are welcome to this free event-
