Job description:
Candidates will be able to perform basic engineering functions to develop or verify an energy storage technology for offshore wind farms.
Educational and background experience:
Mechanical or electrical engineer with a solid understanding of thermal dynamics, hydraulics and pneumatics. SolidWorks proficiency or other simulation software is required.
Job duties:
Verify engineering specifications and components for prototype and scaled first stage deployment. Meet regularly to discuss project milestones and resolve issues. Participate in grant filing process.
About the Company:
We specialize in developing and producing energy storage solutions for renewable energy projects. Premier Power Storage, Inc. (PPS) is focusing on marine based applications such as offshore wind farms and wave generation technology. With several scalable offerings available and innovative partners, PPS will enable a quicker and more profitable adoption of renewable technologies. PPS has been offered an opportunity to partner with Marine Innovations (MI) http://www.marineitech.com/ and participate in their floating turbine trial in Portugal. We will also be working with MI to develop a storage design for an offshore research department at Chevron. The Principal of the company is a graduate of the 2011 CAPE program at SCU and we are currently in the semi-finals of the Cleantech Open.
A PPS clean storage solution for renewable energy projects provides:
1. a reduction in harmful and life threatening pollutants due to the burning of fossil fuels
2. an eco-friendly investment yielding a high IRR and cost competitive with existing solutions
3. an efficient design, up to 70%, utilizing standard non-toxic components in an innovative solution
4. a large and growing addressable market currently over $1 billion dollars
Team
∗ James Zelony is the founder and lead technologist. James developed the PPS core storage technology, and developed the key relationships with Marine Innovations Technology, a partner providing access to engineering and testing resources and equipment. James has over 20+ years of engineering experience.
∗ Victor Lee is the co-founder of PPS and director of marketing. He has 20+ years of experience in leading fortune 500 technology companies. Victor has been instrumental in developing and maintaining relationships with key vendors and suppliers, including Siemens and Shell Oil.
∗ Kevin Cammack – Kevin has 14 years of R&D, marketing and product management experience, with specific experience building and managing cross-functional and cross-company development teams. He was the founding scientist at Nitto Denko’s Non-Linear Optical Materials lab (NDT) in San Diego, where he led the (successful) effort to create a $25M DARPA program to fund holographic display R&D. He has also managed multiple projects funded by DOE, CEC and the USDC. Kevin holds a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley and an MS in Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow.
