2011 CAPE Graduate: Day Break Care Services (DBCS), a social enterprise of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, provides non-medical care services to seniors and disabled adults living in the community and to those who care for them. Our mission is to help our clients stay in their own homes, to improve and enrich vital, independent living, to promote client dignity and self-respect, and to encourage participation in community life.
Day Breaks continuum of care includes:
" Professional Home Care Services
" Licensed Adult Day Care Centers
" Geriatric Case Management
" Caregiver Support Groups & Education
" Escorted Transportation to Grocery Shopping & Medical Appointments
" Information & Assistance Services
DBCS is looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate or graduate student who is eager to learn more about the various aspects of Public Relations and Marketing, including writing marketing materials, press releases, and content/stories for the web, social media, blog, and e-blasts.
Primary Internship Responsibilities:
" Marketing Develop and maintain DBCS flyers, brochures, promotional materials, etc.
" Social Media Conduct online program outreach, promotion, and education using platforms such as Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, etc.
" Blog Develop and maintain an active blog for DBCS. Research and write engaging articles related to healthy aging and family caregiving.
" General Program Outreach Identify and reach out to potential contacts for DBCS in areas that include, but are not limited to: corporations, employee assistance programs, medical professionals, churches and faith-based organizations, and other non-profit / social services agencies.
" Website Update and modify the DBCS website as needed.

Qualifications:
" Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate program in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
" Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
" Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, & PowerPoint.
" Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse professional team.
" Three or more years of experience working with the Internet and a solid understanding of the various social media platforms.
