Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Leavey School of Business Announces 2009 Founders Award Recipient
Silicon Valley veteran Jeffrey A. Miller has been named as the 2009 Founders Award recipient by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Santa Clara University. The annual award recognizes significant contributions by Santa Clara University alumni whose innovation and entrepreneurship have advanced silicon valley’s business community. The award was presented at the CIE Founders Award Banquet on Thursday, September 24, 2009.
Jeffrey A. Miller
Jeff Miller is President and CEO of JAMM Ventures, a business consulting company. He also is Managing Director of the Center for Science, Technology and Society for Santa Clara University, serving jointly with Radha Basu.
Prior to establishing his firm, Jeff was a venture partner with Redpoint Ventures from 2002-2006, where his area of focus was mentoring CEOs of several Redpoint companies, particularly those in the enterprise and infrastructure software markets.
Most of Jeff's career was spent in operating companies. He was CEO of Documentum,, Inc. (DCTM), an enterprise document management software company, from 1993 to 2001, and Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2003. Under Jeff's leadership, Documentum became one of the fastest growing technology companies in the country. Starting as a private company with 15 employees and $500,000 in sales when he joined, Documentum had, by 2001, become a publicly-traded NASDAQ company with 1,200 employees and revenues of over $200 million. Jeff has more than 35 years of high tech experience in semiconductors, hardware and software companies, having spent the early years of his career at Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel, and holding senior marketing and general management executive positions at Adaptec and Cadence Design Systems.
Jeff has served on the Board of Directors of a number of high technology companies, including Data Domain, the leader in deduplication storage systems and Unicru, a hiring solutions SaaS company. He currently serves on the board of directors of McAfee, Inc., the world's largest security technology company, where he is a member of the Executive Compensation Committee. Jeff also serves on two philanthropic boards, The American Prairie Foundation and Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology and Society.
Jeff holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Santa Clara University.
