Santa Clara Startup Expo 2014

The CIE partnered with the Santa Clara Entrepreneurs Organization (SCEO) club and the SCU Career Center to host the fourth annual StartUp Expo startup expo signon Wednesday, March 5, in a new location--the Locatelli Center.  This unique career fair is focused on local startups seeking SCU talent.    The venue was at capacity with 58 Silicon Valley startups attending the event, connecting with more than 400 Santa Clara University students.

The fair was open to all majors, and participating employers offered paid and unpaid internships as well as part-time and full time jobs.  Startup Expo also featured several Santa Clara Alumni (including several California Program for Entrepreneurship/CAPE graduates) ventures, including Appsurdity, ReadyPulse, RetailNext,  AGES Learning Solutions, EventClicker, L2F Inc., The Frisco Touch, theWimzy and others.      20142

The purpose of the event was to expose startups in and around Silicon Valley to Santa Clara University and our exceptional student talent.    With our premier location in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara University is the perfect place for startup companies to showcase themselves and hire some of the most talented students around.

This was our largest Startup Expo event to date, and hope to continue the momentum next year.  We are happy to be able to offer this kind of specialized event to our students and alumni and want to hear from you!  SCU Alum Vincent Fong attended a Startup Expo and landed an internship with then startup Runa.  He not only continued on in the internship, but was hired on as an employee.  Vince then got to see the lifecycle of a startup when Runa was acquired by Staples in October of 2013.  Are you a student who accepted an internship from Startup Expo or a startup who hired SCU interns?  Let us know!  We'd love to hear your story and feature you in an article.  Please email  Linda Jenkins to share your story.
