Guest Speaker Tim Bucher
Tim Bucher is a serial entrepreneur who has created several successful companies over the last 23 years, taking one of them public and selling four others for over $1B in cash. His expertise lies in consumer products and services with an eye for exceptional consumer user experiences. Mr. Bucher may be the only person in history who has served in an executive role for Bill Gates at Microsoft, Steve Jobs at Apple, and Michael Dell at Dell, learning how those leaders innovate and expand businesses.
Tim is currently the CEO of TastingRoom.com, a new startup he founded which is focused on creating solutions that allow consumers to try taste-driven, sensory products at home. His latest venture is initially targeting the wine industry. TastingRoom.com launched a new service in December 2009 for top-tier wineries allowing those wineries to have perfectly-preserved samples of their end products for use with consumers, for trade purposes, or for a myriad of other uses.
Before undertaking TastingRoom.com, Tim was the Vice President of Software and Entertainment Content at Dell. He arrived at Dell in August of 2007 when the company he founded and was CEO of, ZING, was acquired by Dell. ZING created mobile, connected entertainment products for companies such as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, SanDisk, Yahoo!, and other entertainment companies.

In addition to founding ZING, Tim also founded Mirra, a company dedicated to helping consumers protect and share digital content on their personal computers. Mirra was acquired by hard drive manufacturer Seagate Technologies, the largest storage company in the world, where Tim continues to serve as an advisor to their consumer strategies.
Tim was part of the founding team of WebTV Networks, a company that was first to bring the Internet to the television as well as pioneered interactive television technology. After Microsoft acquired WebTV, Tim served for many years as Vice President of Consumer Products for Microsoft responsible for all television products plus was one of the leaders of the first Xbox program, Microsoft's wildly-successful gaming platform.
Tim was also part of the original team that formed The 3DO Company, an interactive gaming systems pioneer which was first to ship a CD-ROM based gaming console. Prior to 3DO, Tim held senior engineering management positions at NeXT Computer (acquired by Apple Computer) and was part of the original team at Sun Microsystems leading the development of many revolutionary workstation products.

These efforts stem from his life-long experience in agriculture which he continues to foster throughout his high-tech life.
Tim, who holds numerous patents in networking technology, computer design, graphics, manufacturing processes, and multimedia technologies, graduated from University of California, Davis with a BS degree in electrical engineering and from Stanford University with a Master's degree in computer architecture.
