Carol Rutlen, CPA, Managing Partner, Rutlen Associates LLC
Carol Rutlen is the managing partner of Rutlen Associates LLC. Carol brings her clients over 20 years of experience with extensive concentration in tax and human resource issues associated with international tax, human resource, and global stock plans. She understands the challenges of multifaceted, global problems first hand from both an internal and external perspective. Carol is a CPA and specializes in global stock plan issues such as process improvement, risk management, and employee communications.
Prior to starting her own business, Carol was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and was the partner-in-charge of their global stock practice and the International Assignment Services practice in northern California. Carol also founded and served as CEO of ExpatEdge®, a software company focusing on the unique needs of mobile employees. ExpatEdge web-based solutions utilized technology to ease the heavy lifting of routine matters, made assignees more self-sufficient, and reduced the cost of supporting assignees by 30-50%.
Carol is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, California Society of CPAs, the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, Global Equity Organization, and the Western International Personnel Association. She is a former Chair of the Certified Equity Professional Institute Advisory Board and is listed in various Who's Who registries. She is also a frequent speaker and has published articles on tax planning, compensation, and benefits. Carol is also an adjunct professor in the Master of Tax program at San Jose State University.
