Interim Dean of the Leavey School of Business Drew Starbird became Interim Dean of the Leavey School of Business on July 1, 2009, following the departure of Barry Z. Posner, who held the post for twelve years and is returning to the management faculty.
Dr. Starbird is a professor of Operations and Management Information Systems in the Business School where he has taught since 1987. He has provided leadership in varied posts, including a stint as Director of the Food and Agribusiness Institute, a multi-disciplinary research program; chaired the Undergraduate Leadership Team of faculty and professional staff; as well as serving as faculty director of the School’s Undergraduate Business programs.
Professor Starbird teaches operations management, statistics, and business analytics at the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA levels, as well as conducting extensive research in quality control and management, supply chain management, food safety, and contracting. He has published in Naval Research Logistics, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Journal of Agricultural & Resource Economics, Agricultural Economics, and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. His scholarship has been recognized with a number of awards, including “Outstanding Contribution” to the Journal of Agricultural & Resource Economics, “Best Article” for the Journal on Chain and Network Sciences, as well as four Leavey School of Business Extraordinary Performance Awards (for exemplary scholarship, teaching, and service), the ACE Outstanding Faculty Awards, and the Dean’s Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Starbird also serves the larger public, most notably as a long-time member of the board of directors of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. He also consults with companies as diverse as Becton Dickinson Immunocytometry Systems and Fresh Express. Panelists include:

Since January 1999, Michael R. Kourey has been a member of the Polycom board of directors and served as senior vice president of Finance and Administration. Since January 1995, Mr. Kourey has also served as the chief financial officer. In the past, he served as vice president of Finance and Administration (January 1995 to January 1999), vice president of Finance and Operations (July 1991 to January 1995), secretary (June 1993 to May 2003), and treasurer (May 2003 to May 2004). Prior to joining Polycom, Mr. Kourey was vice president of Operations at Verilink Corporation. Mr. Kourey currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Aruba Networks, Inc. and Riverbed Technology, Inc. and serves on the advisory board of the Business School at Santa Clara University. Mr. Kourey holds a B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University. Mark LoughridgeSVP & CFO, IBM Co.
Mark Loughridge is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the IBM Corporation. He was named to that position in May 2004.
Mr. Loughridge was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of IBM Global Finance, the world’s largest information technology financing and asset management organization. Since joining IBM in 1977 as a development engineer, he has held many key positions including IBM Controller and leadership roles in IBM Global Services, Sales and Distribution and Personal Systems Groups.
Mr. Loughridge earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. He also completed studies at Ecole Nationale Superieure de Mecanique in Nantes, France. He is a member of IBM’s Performance Team and Corporate Operations Team. He serves on the Board of Directors of Covenant House and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Judy Bruner, MBA '86EVP Administration & CFO, SanDisk Co.
Judy Bruner has served as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, Administration of SanDisk since June 2004. She also served as a member of the board of directors from July 2002 to July 2004.
Ms. Bruner has over 25 years of financial management experience, including serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Palm, Inc., a provider of handheld computing and communications solutions, from September 1999 until June 2004. Prior to Palm, Inc., Ms. Bruner held a financial management position with 3Com Corporation, Ridge Computers and Hewlett-Packard Company. Since January 2009, Ms. Bruner has served on the board of directors and the audit committee of Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. Ms. Bruner holds a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.B.A. degree from Santa Clara University.
