Our Keynote Speaker : William V. Campbell
Silicon Valley veteran Bill Campbell has had a varied career—from football coach to advertising executive to executive leadership at some of the best known tech companies—and yet his approach to leadership has been to develop the people around him to be their best.
Born in Pennsylvania where he worked at U.S. Steel during summers, he received his BA and MA from Columbia University, where he served as head football coach for six years, and where he is currently chair of its Board of Trustees. He received the Gold Medal from the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 2004.
A change in career brought him to account management at J. Walter Thompson, arguably one of the first and best known advertising agencies in America.
A talented executive, Campbell was recruited to high ranking posts as General Manager at Eastman Kodak, Executive Vice President at Apple Computers, founder and CEO of Claris, founder and CEO of Go Corporation, and Chairman and CEO of Intuit.
He is known for his humane and collaborative style which compliments, rather than competes, with his focused, laser-like sense of business priorities. These skills make him a sought-after board director; he currently sits on the boards of Intuit and Apple, where he is co-lead director.
