Steve Almassy '77

Steve Almassy previously was Americas Assurance Leader, responsible for the Assurance practice of Ernst & Young in the Americas which includes North and South America and Israel. Previously, Steve was Global Vice Chair of Ernst & Young's Technology industry practice of more than 8,500 professionals in more than 100 countries. Currently, Steve is the Global Vice Chair of OCA/Industry.

During his 31 years at Ernst & Young, he has been involved in a variety of high technology related client affairs including auditing and consulting on business strategy and financial matters, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic alliances. Steve also travels extensively throughout Europe and Asia and has substantial international client related experience. He currently serves as senior advisory partner on Microsoft, Nokia, Philips Electronics and NXP Semiconductors.

Steve is responsible for creating industry-leading research such as the 2005 Balance Point – Bringing Discipline to Investment in Innovation and Growth study about the challenges that technology companies face managing their innovation investments, the 2002 Industry Re-Boot study about the issues facing the communications and technology industries and the 2001 Business Redefined study about the convergence of entertainment, communications, and technology; the 1999 Connected Society study about the future of the communications industry; the Semiconductor industry study; and five editions of the Electronics Industry Annual Report.

Steve is a graduate of Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree with a major in accounting. Steve is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Santa Clara University Business School Advisory Board and the Santa Clara University Accounting Department Advisory Board.
