Academic Support Resources - Community Outreach

Community Outreach

Santa Clara University’s Department of Athletics and Recreation encourages student-athletes to serve in the community.  Service to others is a core component of a Jesuit education.

Founded in 2003, Bronco Athletes Serving in the Community (BASIC), is a student-athlete organization that organizes on-campus and off-campus outreach opportunities as a way for student-athletes to serve others.

Ashley Blier, Molly Hagen and Mike Detoy, as SAAC's Community Outreach Committee will work with Steve O'Brien, the Academic Support Manager, to facilitate the BASIC program for the 2006-2007 school year.

BASIC and SCU student-athletes have worked with a number of schools, charitable organizations and non-profit entities in their ongoing efforts to improve the school that they attend and the world in which they live.
