Yob, Dori

Dori L. Yob J.D. '03 made the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 2015 Women of Influence annual list. This list comprises “100 women rocking Silicon Valley business” who have made a big impact across all professions. Yob, 36, has been with Hopkins & Carley since she graduated from law school. She handles complex real estate cases in state and federal courts. SHe also routinely appears on behalf of her land use clients at planning commission and city council hearings. As the co-chair of her firm's litigation department, she oversees the firm's largest department. This January, she was elected chair of the San Jose Planning Commission.

Ward, Kalie (Bass)

Kalie (Bass) Ward ’03 and Matthew Ward ’03, M.S ’14 welcomed their first child, Brendan Charles Ward, on Jan. 6, 2015 at 11:01 pm. He was 7 lbs 2 oz, 19 3/4" long.

Pinard, Margaret

Margaret Pinard ’03 has recently released Dulci's Legacy, a young adult fantasy-thriller set in Nova Scotia. This is Margaret's second novel, following her debut historical fiction Memory's Hostage in 2013. Both books can be found on Amazon.com. She is thrilled to be writing real stories instead of memoranda, and is currently at work on her third novel. She lives in Portland, Oregon.

Legarreta, Miguel

Miguel Legarreta ’03 joins Truex Insurance in Stockton after a successful career at Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he was recognized for his outstanding performance by the Liberty Mutual Leader’s Club. Legarreta speaks Spanish fluently, has seven years of experience, and brings a vast knowledge of personal insurance to Truex.

In 2011, Legarreta earned his Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow designation. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 2003 with a degree in economics and a minor in Spanish studies.

Carnes, Matthew

Matthew E. Carnes M.Div. '03 has been elected to Santa Clara University’s Board of Trustees, bringing to 44 the number of members of the governing body that helps steer its strategies and priorities.

A native of San Carlos, Calif., Carnes has been assistant professor of government at Georgetown since 2009 and is the recipient of several awards for outstanding teaching and faculty excellence. He spent a year as a fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution and a semester as a fellow at the University of Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Stanford, where he also received his B.A. in international relations. He holds a M.Div. degree from the Jesuit School of Theology and an M.A. in philosophical resources from Fordham University.

A Jesuit priest since 2003, he was a Jesuit scholar-in-residence at Unity residential learning community at SCU from 2004 to 2008 and from 2011 to 2012. During that time, he periodically served as coordinator for student immersions in Tijuana, Mexico.
 
“I have a great fondness for Santa Clara University and the time I’ve spent here,” said Carnes. “The University is a remarkable community of open, intellectual debate that keeps justice for the world’s poorest and most needy at the forefront in all its endeavors. It will be a privilege to contribute to Santa Clara’s work and foster its growth.”

Bronson, Sarina (Passarelli)

Sarina (Passarelli) Bronson ’03 and husband Greg welcomed a baby girl, Lucy, on Sep. 19, 2014. Big brothers Luke (6), John (4), and Paul (2) love having a sister. The family lives in Cameron Park, Calif.
