Tamburelli, Steve

Clos Du Val Winery appointed industry veteran Steve Tamburelli MBA ’87 as president, overseeing all operations for the winery located in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District.

A Napa Valley native, Tamburelli joined Stags Leap Wine Cellars as chief operating officer in 1998, spent 11 years as general manager at Chappellet, and recently held the role of chief operating officer at Flora Springs Winery.

Savage, John

John Savage '87 is in his 11th season as UCLA's head coach. Savage helped UCLA reach college baseball’s pinnacle in 2013, as the Bruins won their first-ever NCAA baseball title. Under his guidance, UCLA has advanced to the postseason in seven of the last nine seasons, hosting four consecutive NCAA Regionals from 2010 through 2013. He is currently the third longest-tenured head coach in UCLA baseball program history. UCLA has gone 349-254-1 under Savage the past 10 seasons. In seven trips to the postseason at UCLA, Savage has compiled a 32-14 record (.696 winning percentage), recording the most postseason victories of any head coach in program history. Julie Mar-Spinola J.D. '87 has been appointed Chief Intellectual Property Officer at Finjan Holdings Inc., a cybersecurity technology licensing company, Ms. Mar-Spinola has served as the company's VP, Legal Operations since February 3, 2014. In this expanded role, Ms. Mar-Spinola will have additional wide-ranging responsibilities, including building Finjan's intellectual property assets, overseeing the Company's Enforcement Program, including the licensing and litigation practice groups, as well as managing public policy, including Patent Reform.

Ms. Mar-Spinola is currently the chairman and co-founder of ChIPs, a nonprofit organization, founded in 2005, whose mission is to support, educate, and promote the advancement, development, and retention of women in IP and technology.
 
Ms. Mar-Spinola has been a court-appointed mediator for the US District Court for the Northern District of California, specializing in patent disputes, since 2011. Since November 2014, Ms. Mar-Spinola has served on the Santa Clara Law, High Tech Law Institute's High Tech Advisory Board. More recently, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce appointed Ms. Mar-Spinola to serve on the Patent Public Advisory Committee (PPAC) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Arnold, Valerie (Bettencourt)

Mike Arnold ’86 will soon celebrate his 28th year with State Farm Insurance, where he is VP of Operations–Property and Casualty Claims. He and his wife, Valerie Bettencourt Arnold ’87, have been married for 27 years and live in Bloomington, Ill. They have two daughters. Their youngest is a junior in high school while their oldest has returned to the Bay Area and is working full-time in Pleasanton upon graduating from college from North Carolina State University.
