Brian Thorsett ’00 is now an assistant professor at Virginia Tech University in the School for Performing Arts. Thorsett also recently performed at the prestigious Festival del Sole in Napa, Calif., in Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti.
Blaze Smallwood ’02 and wife Annie welcomed their second child, Brady Drue, on May 17, 2014. Big sister Avery Mae (4 years old in Oct 2014) loves giving her new brother smooches any chance she gets.
Matthew E. Carnes M.Div. '03 has been elected to Santa Clara University’s Board of Trustees, bringing to 44 the number of members of the governing body that helps steer its strategies and priorities.
A native of San Carlos, Calif., Carnes has been assistant professor of government at Georgetown since 2009 and is the recipient of several awards for outstanding teaching and faculty excellence. He spent a year as a fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution and a semester as a fellow at the University of Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Stanford, where he also received his B.A. in international relations. He holds a M.Div. degree from the Jesuit School of Theology and an M.A. in philosophical resources from Fordham University.
Katie Susemihl ’97, J.D. ’05 and Ryan Bennie welcomed their first child, Thomas Ryan Bennie, on June 28, 2014. He weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. The family lives in Santa Rosa.
Travis Salha ’05 and Nicola van Rensburg were married on April 17, 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa. Matt Tuttle '05 served as best man. Other Broncos in attendance included Katy Tuttle '05 and Kristin Belanger '05. The couple met in London, United Kingdom, and now live in San Jose.
Scott Sweeney ’08 and Michelle (Evanson) Sweeney ’06 welcomed their first son, Oliver Edward on March 12, 2014. They currently reside outside of Seattle.
