James Arbios '49 writes, "17 classmates celebrated 65 years since graduation in 1949! We had a luncheon in Nobili, where we spent four happy years."
Gabriela Tunzi J.D. '12 and Martin Behn J.D. '12 were united in marriage on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Santa Clara Mission Church in Santa Clara, with Fr. Peter Abdella presiding. An outdoor reception was held at the Rengstorff House in Mountain View. Gabriela is the daughter of Dr. Marc Tunzi and Dr. Danielle Acton of Salinas. She is a 2005 graduate of Salinas High School and a graduate of UCLA and the Santa Clara University School of Law. Martin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Diane Behn of San Luis Obispo. He is a 2004 graduate of San Luis Obispo High School and is a graduate of UC Berkeley and the Santa Clara University School of Law. Gabriela and Martin are both members of the California Bar. Gabriela works for San Mateo County; Martin works for a private law firm in Palo Alto.
Attendants for the bride included maid of honor, Dominique Tunzi, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included college friend Vicky Sinnett-Smith, law school friend Crystal Roberts J.D. '12, and Whitney Behn, sister of the groom. Best man was Brendan Till, college friend of the groom. Groomsmen included law school friend Jake Smith J.D. '12, high school friend Max Benson, and Matthew Tunzi, brother of the bride. The couple make their home in the San Francisco Bay area.
Steve Tradewell '90 was among 11 recipients of the CFO Recognition Award, bestowed by the North Bay Business Journal, for making a significant impact on the health of local companies and the economy.
Steve is the CFO of Napa Valley Vintners. Born and raised in the Bay Area, he has spent most of his life within a few hours of home. After deciding that a career in academia was not him, Steve spent time working in the film industry as the director of finance and operations of the California Film Institute. After seven years there, the Napa Valley Vintners called, and for the past 11 years has enjoyed learning about and growing with the Napa Valley wine industry. He currently lives in Napa, with his wife, Linda, and four dogs.
Steve's advice for young emerging financial leaders: "Develop a personal “brand” based on integrity, dedication, and follow-through. Also, avoid the temptation to try and be “right” all of the time. There is a lot that can be learned by listening and via thoughtful reflection."

Tom Templeman '81 has joined Medivation as senior vice president of pharmaceutical operations. With more than 25 years of pharmaceutical experience, Dr. Templeman previously served as vice president of manufacturing, science, and technology at Hospira; as senior vice president, integrated supply chain at Liquidia Technologies; and in various leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, where he worked for 13 years in a number of capacities, most recent as general manager of Centocor Biologics, LLC and head of the global biologics supply chain.
Medivation, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of medically innovative therapies to treat serious diseases for which there are limited treatment options. Medivation aims to transform the treatment of these diseases and offer hope to critically ill patients and their families.
Kam Shadan M.S. '82, PE, a vice president of Gannett Fleming based in the San Francisco, California, office, is updating two key national guidance handbooks by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The handbooks are aimed at helping transit project sponsors plan, manage, and construct capital projects in compliance with FTA guidelines and best practices. The revised publications are expected to be released in early 2016.
The first, titled “The FTA Project Construction Handbook,” will assist project sponsors who plan to develop a large project for the first time. Projects include bus maintenance and operations facilities, bus rapid transit, and transit multi-modal terminal projects up to $100 million. Shadan was the original lead author for this handbook in 2006, and this latest version will be the third update in the past 10 years. The other book, “Project and Construction Management Guidelines,” is targeted for new projects typically ranging from $100 million to several billion dollars.
With more than 38 years of industry experience, Shadan has spent 15 years working directly for public utility and transit and rail agencies. He has provided national project management oversight for FTA capital transit and rail projects in Los Angeles, California; the San Francisco Bay area; Sacramento, California; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Chicago, Illinois. In addition, he serves as a program management advisor and forensic expert witness on public and private development projects.
Active in professional organizations, Shadan has been a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Capital Projects Committee since 1998 and the Public-Private Partnership Committee since 2008. He also has served on the California Transit Association Executive Committee since 2007.
Shadan earned a master of science in engineering management from the University of Santa Clara and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California Berkeley. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Harvard Business School executive seminars in project development and private equity. Shadan is a registered Professional Engineer and an engineering and general building contractor in California.

Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska, welcomes Nicholas J.C. Santos, S.J., MTS '02, Ph.D. to its Board of Trustees. Fr. Santos brings a wealth of experience in Jesuit higher education. He is an assistant professor of marketing at the College of Business at Marquette University, in Milwaukee, and the co-director of Marquette’s social innovation initiative. He advises Marquette’s Alpha Sigma Nu chapter as well as the student chapter of Changemakers, which expands social innovation and entrepreneurship among students to help tackle the world’s most pressing problems.
A native of Pune, India, Santos holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in businessfrom the University of Pune; bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and theology from Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth, also in Pune; a master’s in theology from the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University; and MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Marquette University.
Prior to entering the Jesuits, Santos was an accountant for a chemical distributor and transportation company. As a Jesuit, he taught for eight years at St. Vincent’s College of Commerce in Pune, which has a special emphasis on providing business education to low-income students. He spent three years as a visiting scholar and post-doctoral fellow at Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and was also involved with the Global Social Benefit Incubator program of the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara.
Flex Pharma announced the appointment of Kathie Lindemann '83 as its chief operating officer.
Prior to joining Flex Pharma, Ms. Lindemann served as COO at DAVIDs TEA Inc. Ms. Lindemann also spent 19 years at Starbucks, where she held several leadership roles including senior VP, Starbucks Foodservice, SVP US Business Operations, and SVP International Operations, Store Development and Global Business Systems. She has been a director of Cambia Health Solutions, Inc. since June 2009.
“Since we see substantial opportunity to develop our consumer product as a global brand, I am looking forward to working with Kathie to leverage her extensive experience building and running operations ex-US as we plan to access key international markets,” commented Marina Hahn, president of Consumer.
Former Santa Clara standout John Lamble '14, winner of 81 career singles matches during his time as a Bronco, captured his first professional title in doubles over the weekend.
Partnering with Alan Kohen from Argentina, the duo rolled through the field at the USA F23 Futures event in Edwardsville, Ill. en route to the final on Sunday. In the tournament-deciding match, Lamble and Kohen came back to down the Great Britain pairing of Scott Clayton and Richard Gabb by a score of 3-6, 7-6(4), 10-7.
"I'm very proud of John and the momentous accomplishment that he has just accomplished in his professional career," said Santa Clara Head Coach Derek Mills. "John was a terrific player when he was a Bronco and I'm happy that he has continued his success at the next level."
While competing at Santa Clara, Lamble racked up three All-WCC Doubles Team awards, two All-WCC Singles accolades, and was a highly ranked player in the conference as well as the Northwest Region on a consistent basis. The Saratoga, Calif. native ranks second all-time on both Santa Clara's singles and doubles wins lists. In his final year on the Mission Campus in 2013-14, Lamble tallied 21 victories in singles competition and completed a near-perfect 15-2 mark in doubles action.
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), representing U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research, today announced William M. Holt '79, executive vice president and general manager of the Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) at Intel, has been named the 2015 recipient of SIA's highest honor, the Robert N. Noyce Award. SIA presents the Noyce Award annually in recognition of a leader who has made outstanding contributions to the U.S. semiconductor industry in technology or public policy.
"For the last four decades, Bill Holt has been a tireless advocate, innovator, and leader for the semiconductor industry, helping advance new technologies that drive our industry and power our economy," said John Neuffer, president and CEO, Semiconductor Industry Association. "Throughout his distinguished career, Bill's expertise, skill, and unwavering determination have helped keep the semiconductor industry at the forefront of innovation. On behalf of the SIA board of directors, it is an honor to announce Bill's selection as the 2015 Robert N. Noyce Award recipient in recognition of his tremendous accomplishments."
Holt began his Intel career in DRAM development in 1974. Today, he is responsible for technology development and the company's worldwide manufacturing operations, including component fabrication, assembly and test, customer fulfillment, and supply chain management. Additionally, Holt oversees research and development in the areas of wafer process, package assembly and test, and design and technology computer-aided tools. Holt earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and a master's in electrical engineering from the University of Santa Clara.
"It is a tremendous honor to join the ranks of Noyce Award winners, individuals who have built the semiconductor industry and made it a paragon of America's economic and technological strength," said Holt. "Throughout my career, I have focused on doing my part to advance the forward march of innovation, one step at a time. As I gratefully accept this award, I look forward to continuing to help our industry take the next step forward."
The Noyce Award is named in honor of semiconductor industry pioneer Robert N. Noyce, co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel. In addition to the presentation of the Noyce Award, this year's SIA Award Dinner will feature former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta as keynote speaker.
Dr. Tanner Diggs '09 joined Piedmont Heights Dental Associates as a general dentist. Diggs is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry in the Twin Cities. He is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
Michael Amato '07, M.S. '11 and Bianca Vallorz '07, tied the knot at the beautiful Mission Santa Clara on January 24, 2015! Even though the wedding was in the middle of winter, they were blessed with wonderful 70-degree weather and not a cloud in the sky! They currently live in San Jose, with Bianca supporting the local community working at Family Supportive Housing and Michael working at Apple.
