Santa Clara University’s Board of Trustees elected a new trustee, Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Haley '81. Haley is a co-founder and managing director of the Menlo Park–based venture-capital firm Redpoint Ventures, where he focuses on investments in software, consumer Internet and digital-media companies. Among his successful investments were Zimbra (acquired by Yahoo!); Responsys (an Oracle acquisition); and Homestead Technologies (acquired by Intuit). He was previously general partner with Institutional Venture Partners, and currently serves on the board of directors of Netflix (NFLX); 2U (TWOU); Curious.com; TheFind; ThredUP; Jaunt VR; and Zuora.
Paul "Chip" Lion J.D. '82 is a partner at the firm Morrison and Foerster, and in September he became chair of the American Bar Association's Business Law Section. The Business Law Section, a renowned institution with over 50,000 members and 50 substantive law committees, provides thought leadership on corporate law issues and is considered to be the premier community for business law professionals.
Bart Lally ’85 and wife Amanda welcomed their first child, Francis Joseph Lally, on July 27, 2014. The family lives in San Francisco.
David Wiesner ’89, MBA ’93 has joined Edgewood Partners Insurance Center as managing principle and regional director in its Employee Benefits Consulting Division. EPIC is a retail property, casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant. Wiesner brings 25 years of experience in strategic market planning, sales organizational leadership, new product/service development and health and welfare plan consulting to the firm.
As regional director, Wiesner will focus on growing EPIC's employee benefits consulting business in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, recruiting and adding producer/consultants and specialty service teams, and fully integrating EPIC's national Employee Services Platform into local client offerings. Wiesner will be based in San Francisco and will report locally to John Connell , EPIC's President, Employee Benefits of California.
