G. Edward Rudloff Jr. J.D. ’72, of San Rafael, has been reelected president of the Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff law firm. Rudloff is a Santa Clara University law graduate and partner at the firm, which is located in San Francisco.

Cruden, John

John Cruden J.D. ’74 was confirmed by the United States Senate to be the assistant attorney general for Environment and Natural Resources Division for the United States Department of Justice. Cruden was originally appointed to the position in an announcement on December 23, 2013.

After graduating from West Point, Santa Clara Law, and the Woodrow Wilson School at the University of Virginia, Cruden served in several positions during his legal career in the military. After rising to the chief legislative counsel of the U.S. Army, Cruden then joined the government to spend decades practicing environmental law. He spent more than 20 years as a top career attorney in the Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources division before leaving that position to besom president of Washington-based research and advocacy organization the Environmental Law Institute (ELI).

White, Kelly
Kelly White MBA ’76 is part of a new commercial lending team that has joined the Bank of the Pacific, expanding its presence in Salem, Oregon. White specializes in commercial real estate lending. He has spent 20 years in banking, the last 15 of which were in Oregon. Kelly has a strong diversified background in banking, most recent as a commercial real estate lender serving the Willamette Valley. He has been an active member of the Salem Rotary Club for the past 17 years.

Hamilton, Phyllis

Phyllis Hamilton J.D. ’76 has been appointed chief judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Hamilton is the first African-American woman in the court’s history to fill this position.

“Having enjoyed my work in court governance in many capacities over the years, I look forward to working with my colleagues and the bar and staff of this court to continue the court’s traditions of innovation and excellent service,” Judge Hamilton said.
 
Judge Hamilton received her BA from Stanford in 1974 and her JD from Santa Clara Law in 1976. Her judicial career has included appointments as an administrative judge for a federal agency, a magistrate judge of this court, and a district judge of this court from 2000 to the present. Since 2010, she has served in the Oakland Division.
