Choosing a Residential Learning Community
All students, including those who commute, begin their Santa Clara careers as members of a Residential Learning Community (RLC). Each community has a theme, which is broad and not connected to any particular major. Students find that being part of an RLC connects them immediately to the campus community and enhances the SCU experience.
There are eight RLCs housed in 10 residence halls throughout the campus. Visit RLCs at a Glance for an overview of the RLCs, their themes, and the residence hall locations and amenities.
As a member of an RLC you have access to the residence hall that houses your community, participate in RLC activities, and may take courses with other community members. These courses fulfill Core Curriculum requirements that all Santa Clara students need to satisfy. Visit the RLC website for more information.
The Housing Office, in collaboration with the Office of Residence Life, is invested in creating and promoting a living and learning environment to broaden and enhance the student university experience. Here you’ll find more details about dining plans, applying for housing, roommates, and more.
The goal of the Office of Residence Life is to provide Santa Clara students with a remarkable community living/learning experience. They are here to help you develop connections in your experiences, your community, your learning, and across campus.
