This quarter, I have had to hit the ground running! It is almost the end of week 3, and I feel like the quarter just began. So far, I have already had a group presentation, a few papers due, an insane amount of reading, and a "quiz" (which we all know usually means a minor midterm).
In addition to my school work (and work schedule), I am on the Salsa team here at Santa Clara. Last week was our "hell" week where we had two hours of practice every night from 9-11. So, after a long day at school, I had practice afterwards. As a result, I got very little sleep and, of course, got sick.
I did get a chance to get outside this week and I went for a hike. It really helped me clear my mind, relax, and stay focused on what I need to do for school. Despite the frustration of being sick, it actually reinforced my decision to start taking better care of my body in order to stay healthy and strong throughout the rest of the year.
This is my last Winter Quarter in college and I want to live it up and enjoy all the wonderful opportunities that are offered to me. My advice to each of you is to focus on your health by eating right and getting enough sleep. Learn how to say "no" if something conflicts with your health (such as smoking, not sleeping, not eating, etc.) and make time to get out into nature to relax and reflect. It helps you stay sane. Good luck this quarter!
