Assistant Vice President, Alumni Relations

Kathy Kale ’86 is responsible for managing the Alumni Relations strategic direction, providing leadership and direction to the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and inspiring the talented and hard-working Alumni Office staff. Every day she feels blessed to work on our beautiful Mission Campus and keep our amazing Bronco Family connected to the University and each other.  She also loves spending time with her family and friends, meeting new people, learning new things, and spontaneous trips to The Hut!

Assistant to AVP, Special Projects

Carly Agelson '21 manages strategic projects for the AVP and logistical support on various processes within Alumni Relations. In her free time, Carly enjoys being around friends and family, spending time at the beach, and keeping up with fellow alumnus Shemar Moore '92.

Jenny Sullivan

Director, Community Engagement

Jenny (Moody) Sullivan ’07 leads the Community Engagement team, comprised of four directors that oversee our geographic, identity, affinity, and industry-based communities. She is primarily responsible for advancing the strategic priorities of the Alumni Association through the development and coordination of over 100 alumni events and countless alumni relationships. Along with her team, she is responsible for engaging a broad and diverse group of alumni, current parents, and friends while delivering a wide variety of experiences for Broncos all over the world. She enjoys connecting Broncos to one another and back to the University through our shared passion for such a special place that means so much to all of us. Jenny loves spending time with her friends and family, especially  her two sons, JT (SCU Class of 2035!) and Liam (SCU Class of 2041!).

Zach Plaza

Assistant Director, Community Engagement - Career & Professional Connections

Zach Plaza ’07 works as part of the Community Engagement team, managing regional communities of alumni around the globe. Zach also leads the Alumni Association’s efforts with regards to professional engagement, adding value through engaging alumni around industry knowledge sharing, network building, and virtual and in-person programming. As the Senior Assistant Director, Community Engagement, Zach is responsible for managing the Alumni Association’s , corporate connections, and overall career efforts. Zach believes in the Association’s mantra that "A Strong Santa Clara Family Makes the World a Better Place" and enjoys connecting Broncos all over the world to each other and to the University. Zach enjoys following his favorite Bay Area sports teams and spending time with his friends and family, especially his wife, and their two young sons.

Brian Coleman

Community Engagement Manager - Service & Spirituality

In addition to managing a portfolio of regional communities (listed below), Brian leads the coordination and implementation of our Alumni for Others community service program and spirituality offerings for alumni. In his free time, Brian loves playing soccer, reading a good book, and learning to cook new types of food with his wife.

Megan Schiel

Community Engagement Manager - Young & Graduate Alumni

Megan Schiel ‘16 leads our graduate and young alumni engagement efforts. (We define young alumni as having graduated within the last 10 years…) Megan also manages several of our larger regional communities along the West Coast. Whether it’s through lively socials, sporting events, or casual get-togethers, Megan loves creating spaces where alumni can reconnect, share laughs, and relive the good times at SCU. When she’s not brainstorming the next event, you can find Megan exploring the hidden gems of the Bay Area, trying new hobbies like golf and paddle boarding, and dining al fresco when the weather’s nice.

Yesenia Magdaleno-Solis

Community Engagement Manager - Student & Identity

Yesenia Magdaleno-Solis '20 manages our student engagement efforts, including student-focused events and our volunteer student group, the Student Alumni Council. She also leads our seven identity-based communities: Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+, Middle Eastern & North African, Native American, and Veterans Alumni Group, and oversees our Alumni Relations diversity and inclusion efforts. Outside of work, Yesenia enjoys painting en plein air, going on long walks to coffee shops, driving to beaches, and trying new cuisines with friends.

Vinnie Longo

Director, Marketing & Communications

Vinnie Longo Headshot

Vinnie Longo, MBA joined the Alumni Association in fall of 2022 and provides vision and strategic leadership for Alumni Relations' integrated marketing and communications. He aims to drive new and exciting ways for alumni to engage with SCU in person and virtually, to both reminisce about their time in college and build new memories with the alumni community. Vinnie comes to SCU after leading marketing and strategy in nonprofit civic engagement and in sports, most recently for the University of San Francisco. When not working, he loves spending time with his wife, running, seeing live music, and is an avid baseball fan (go Giants!).

Megan Alderete

Associate Director, Digital Engagement

Megan Alderete M.A. ’11 has been with the Alumni Association since 2014 and manages digital engagement for alumni, including the social media program (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Vimeo, and Flickr). She is interested in providing meaningful ways that alumni can engage with each other online, no matter where they live in the world or what life stage they’re in–because sometimes life is too busy to make it to an event in person! Megan is the program manager for SCU Switchboard, and the Alumni Online Directory and hopes to add more online engagement tools in the near future. She is so grateful for the lifelong Bronco friendships she created as a student and continues to create while working in the alumni office. Megan loves spending time with her family and friends and particularly enjoys outdoor activities like beach cruiser bike rides, street festivals, visiting the ocean, and music in the park.

Cynthia Nonnenmacher

Associate Director of Marketing Communications

Cynthia Nonnenmacher ’11 joined the Alumni Association in 2024 and handles much of the Association’s writing, including newsletters, website content and alumni interviews. There are so many fascinating people in the Bronco family and Cynthia is excited to help tell their stories! She loved her time as a student at SCU and is grateful to be back on the beautiful campus with the fantastic Alumni team. When she’s not at work, you can find her spending time with her friends and family, with her nose in a book or attempting to keep her Wordle streak going.

Maureen Muscat

Director, Events

Maureen Muscat ’91, MBA ’99 leads the Signature Events team which is primarily responsible for large alumni events held on campus. The largest of those include Vintage Santa Clara, Grand Reunion, The President’s Dinner, and Grad Bash. She has wonderful memories of her time as a student at SCU and is happy to share that her closest friends today are those she met on campus over 30 years ago! Maureen enjoys good food, good wine, and entertaining family and friends whenever possible - the more, the merrier!

She is excited to be back home on campus, and looks forward to using her planning, marketing, and communication skills to gather Broncos and bring Alumni events to life. Kristina Schroeder ’09 is responsible for providing the Alumni office team event systems and technology support to improve efficiency and deliver consistent and engaging messaging. Kristina enjoys spending her free time hiking, traveling, and chasing around her two little boys in the East Bay.

Melissa Brotherton

Director, Operations and Finance

Melissa Brotherton Headshot

Melissa Brotherton oversees all internal operations and financial functions for Alumni Relations, including improving internal processes and infrastructure, managing team-wide performance measurements and reporting, leading programs to advance campus partnerships, and overseeing customer service/relations. Melissa enjoys cooking/baking, scrapbooking, arts/crafts, home design, and spending time with her family and friends.

Alma McChesney

Customer Service Manager

Alma McChesney is responsible for key activities and programs that enable SCU alumni, parents, students volunteers, friends, benefactors, colleagues at other institutions, and vendors to be informed, involved, and committed to alumni programs and events, while receiving the highest level of operational support and customer service. ​Alma loves engaging with alumni and students visiting the Bannan building. She also enjoys being around her family and friends including attending various music series during the summer and dancing.

Cristaldo (Cris) Campos

Finance and Data Manager

Reporting to the Associate Director, Operations and Finance, Cris oversees key Alumni Relations financial and operational transactions. Specific responsibilities include financial/budget operations, event processing, program support, and performance measurement/reporting in support of operational quality and outstanding customer service for our alumni and University constituents. Cris is a graduate of UC Riverside (Go Highlanders!), loves numbers, and enjoys traveling, hiking, dancing, and trying new foods.

Fr. Art Liebscher

Jesuit Alumni Liaison

Fr. Art ’69 assists the Alumni Office with spiritual services deemed important to the University. His many good works include attending to those in special need, representing the University in liturgies, participating on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and helping build Santa Clara’s Jesuit outreach to younger alumni, special boards, and other constituencies. Fr. Art also currently serves as the Rector for the SCU Jesuit Community.

Paul Neilan

Director, Alumni Engagement

Paul Neilan AA

Paul Neilan ’70 joined the Alumni Office in 1978. He assists with several Signature Events such as the Gianera Society Luncheon, Buck Bannan Awards, and Grad Bash. He also supports the Alumni Family Scholarship efforts and other association events and programs as needed. In his spare time Paul enjoys golf, organic gardening, rock climbing and spending time at his Maui vacation home.

Maria von Massenhausen

Director, Alumni Engagement

Maria von Massenhausen ’87 is dedicated to providing engagement opportunities that foster the spirit, pride, history & tradition of SCU through unique programming and special projects. She is a point person for the Alumni Family Scholarship, Virtual Alumni Book Club, and Canine Companions to name a few.  From a long line of Broncos, Maria loves to hear stories from your Santa Clara days.  In her free time she is most happy following the Giants, walking the dogs, or spending time with her family and friends.
