Then & Now: SCU in England – London, York & Durham
Aug. 31 to Sept. 12, 2014
We’re back and have a lot of stories to tell. Highlights include an “inside” look at the British houses of Parliament and a private meeting with MP Graham Brady after our tour. We are still trying to figure out how Prime Minister David Cameron knew to come out of #10 Downing St. at the moment Dr. Gordon’s lectured walk was passing by! Then there was Robin Hood, who believe it or not, is alive and well and living in Nottingham. It’s good to have an “in” with the Jesuits as Paul Soukup, S.J., working with local clergy in York, celebrated a special Mass for the group at the shrine of St. Margaret Clitherow, a martyr who lived in the Shambles area of the city.
We found out Broncos in the U.K. are eager to re-connect with fellow Broncos. At our reception in London we had an alum drive all the way from Wales to attend!
Want to see more? Check out the pictures and our video of the blessing & dedication of the bench we left behind in Durham to honor Richard Coz, S.J., the father of study abroad at SCU. See what fun we had and stay tuned to find out what adventure awaits us next!
For further information or if you are interested in future trips, please contact Barbara Colyar, '72 in the Alumni Office. Cheers!
